Tucked away in the bustling Luciole North Building, the Toyonaka City Hotarugaike Library beckons. This isn’t just any library. It’s a gateway to knowledge, nestled within a vibrant commercial hub. Toyonaka City boasts a network of libraries, but Hotarugaike Library holds a special place. Imagine a place where stories whisper from the shelves, where the scent of old books mingles with the aroma of coffee from nearby cafes. That’s Hotarugaike Library, a haven for bookworms and knowledge seekers alike. It houses approximately 57,000 books. It is conveniently located near the Hankyu Takarazuka Line and Osaka Monorail, making it easily accessible. Inside, you’ll find a variety of genres. From classic literature to contemporary bestsellers, manga to academic journals, there’s something for everyone. The library also offers various services. These include computer access, reading events, and reference assistance. Unfortunately, the Toyonaka City Hotarugaike Library underwent renovations in 2024. It was closed from June 17th, 2024 to the end of March 2025 for interior improvements. This involved creating a safe and comfortable space for children and families, dedicated areas for browsing and enjoying library materials without dining, individual study rooms, and browsing bookshelves for new publications and popular books. During the closure, library services were unavailable. The book drop-off was closed, and returns were accepted at other Toyonaka City libraries. Those who had reserved materials for pickup at Hotarugaike Library were automatically redirected to Sangenjaya Library. The library’s newspaper subscriptions were temporarily moved to Sangenjaya Library. Despite the temporary closure, the digital library remained accessible online.
