In 1974, amidst the growing residential landscape of northern Toyonaka, Toyonaka City Shoji Elementary School emerged. It was established as a branch of Ueno Elementary School. Originally, the school housed students from 2nd to 5th grade, transferring from Ueno Elementary. During the 1980s, Shoji Elementary became a designated research school for science education by the Osaka Prefectural Board of Education. Later, in the 1990s, it was also designated for physical education and moral education research. Toyonaka City Shoji Elementary School experienced a surge in enrollment during the 2000s with over 1,000 students, leading to an expansion of school buildings in 2007. More recently, declining birth rates have brought enrollment down to around 700. Located near Senri Chuo Station and Midori Bus Stop, the school is easily accessible. Toyonaka City Shoji Elementary School remains a vital part of the community. It has adapted to the changing times.
