The 33-meter-tall Guanyin statue completed in 2001 is a breathtaking sight. It weighs a staggering 3300000 kilograms. The statue depicts Guanyin in a lotus posture. She holds a vase of clean water a symbol of purity and compassion.
But Mount Guanyin isn’t just about religious icons. The park also houses the Museum of Ancient Trees. Founded in 2002 this museum is the first of its kind in China. It showcases the unique flora of the mountain. Over 73 families and 199 plant species thrive here. You’ll find Ixonanthes chinensis Artocarpus hypargyreus and many more. The park even boasts an International Convention Centre completed in 2013.
The mountain’s subtropical maritime monsoon climate ensures plenty of rainfall and sunshine. Even in winter the temperature rarely dips below 5 degrees Celsius. Summer however stretches from April 6 to October 10. Animals such as Asiatic salamanders pangolins and owls call Mount Guanyin home.
Beyond the Guanyin statue the park offers many other attractions. There’s the Guanyin Temple the Hall of Three Saints Xiangong Peak Pudu Creek and Thanksgiving Lake.
