1954. A new wind blew through Nishinomiya. Not a literal harukaze, though the name would become synonymous with a fresh start. On September 1st, Nishinomiya Harukaze Elementary School opened its doors, drawing students from Hamaguchi and Ueharukaze Elementary Schools. This marked a significant moment for the community. A wooden, two-story building stood ready to nurture young minds. The official opening ceremony, a grand affair, took place a few weeks later on October 6th. This date became etched in the school’s history as its founding day. The school grew. In 1960, a pool was added. This provided a much-needed space for aquatic activities and lessons. Years later, in 1992, a learning pool was completed, further enhancing the school’s facilities. Tragedy struck in 1995. The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake shook the region, damaging parts of Nishinomiya Harukaze Elementary. The school, however, persevered. The damaged sections were repaired, a testament to the community’s resilience. Nishinomiya Harukaze Elementary continued its mission, educating generations of children in Nishinomiya. The school remains a cornerstone of the community. Its history is a reflection of the challenges and triumphs of the city it serves.
