This club has not just one but two courses. They are the Sodegaura Course and the New Sodegaura Course.

Let’s step back in time. The idea for \u8896\u30f6\u6d66\u30ab\u30f3\u30c4\u30ea\u30fc\u30af\u30e9\u30d6 began in 1958. At that time, the Tokyo Bay area was developing rapidly. It was becoming a major industrial zone. The mayor of Chiba City, Mitsuo Miyauchi, felt something was missing. He wanted a prestigious hotel and a golf course.
Miyauchi approached Masaji Masuda of Asahi Construction Co. He asked if it was possible to develop a golf course. He wanted it on city-owned land in Yatsuda-machi. This marked the beginning of the \u8896\u30f6\u6d66\u30ab\u30f3\u30c4\u30ea\u30fc\u30af\u30e9\u30d6.
Masuda agreed with Miyauchi’s vision. He took on the roles of management and construction. Key figures from the business world joined as founders. These included Masao Anzai of Showa Electric Industry Co. and Toyoji Katsuyama from the financial sector. Hiroshi Anzai of Tokyo Gas Co. provided support. Jitsuo Iwasa of Fuji Bank and Yoshie Kasai of Nomura Securities Co. also contributed.
In April 1959, the “Yatsuda Country Club” was established. Half a year later, it was renamed \u8896\u30f6\u6d66\u30ab\u30f3\u30c4\u30ea\u30fc\u30af\u30e9\u30d6. Masuda’s goal was the Hane之台 Country Club. The course design was entrusted to Kazuo Otani.
The Sodegaura Course opened in 1960. Otani designed its 18 holes. The New Sodegaura Course followed in 1965. The design was led by Tai Ishii.
The Sodegaura Course is located in Midori Ward, Chiba City. The New Sodegaura Course is in Wakaba Ward.
The Sodegaura Course spans 891,000 square meters. It features a layout designed by Kazuo Otani. The 18-hole course is a par 72. It stretches 7,138 yards. The course rating is 71.7.
The New Sodegaura Course covers 759,000 square meters. The \u8896\u30f6\u6d66\u30ab\u30f3\u30c4\u30ea\u30fc\u30af\u30e9\u30d6 design committee created it. This 18-hole course is also a par 72. It measures 6,869 yards. Its course rating is 72.2.
\u8896\u30f6\u6d66\u30ab\u30f3\u30c4\u30ea\u30fc\u30af\u30e9\u30d6 has hosted major championships. The Japan Open Golf Championship was held here in 1966. The Japan Women’s Open Golf Championship took place in 1985.
