Welcome to the realm of the Yaoshifo Guanyin Caves. These caves offer a glimpse into Beijing’s rich Buddhist heritage. The caves are located on the high slopes to the west of the Yaoshifo Temple.
Yaoshifo Temple is in Zhoukoudian Town. It is in Fangshan District of Beijing. The temple was officially registered as a religious activity site in 2006. It faces south and is built against the mountain. The complex includes a temple gate, stone steps and halls. You’ll also find the Hall of the Heavenly Kings and the Great Hero Hall. The temple also has the Medicine Buddha Hall and the Great Compassion Pavilion. The buildings feature carved beams and painted rafters. Their design is exquisite.
But it is the Guanyin Caves that draw us today. There are two of these caves. Each one houses a statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Guanyin is revered as the Bodhisattva of compassion.
