“Did you know that this school celebrated its 150th anniversary recently?”

Here we are at Narashino Municipal Okubo Elementary School. It is a place of learning in Chiba, Japan. This school is not just a building. It is a landmark with a rich history.

Narashino Municipal Okubo Elementary School marked its 150th anniversary. A significant milestone was celebrated with the community. The anniversary celebrations included a special song. The song is titled “Hibike Mirai” which means “Echo into the Future.” Sixth-grade students wrote the lyrics. They captured their hopes and dreams for the future. The song was performed at the Narashino City Elementary and Junior High School Music Festival. The entire school sings it. The melody echoes throughout the school.

To mark the 150th anniversary a photo exhibition showcased the school’s history. It offered a look back at its long journey. It was held at the Narashino City Citizen Plaza Okubo.

A new school building was completed in the summer of Reiwa 6. The new building marks a new chapter for Narashino Municipal Okubo Elementary School. The second semester will begin in the new building. A tour of the old school building took place on July 20. It was called the “Okubo Elementary School Old School Building Memory Tour.” Participants scanned QR codes to view images from the past.

The tour also featured “The Seven Mysteries of Okubo Elementary School”. These mysteries included tales of a bleeding Mozart. The Mona Lisa’s eyes were said to move. Participants shared these stories. They wrote messages on the walls of the old school building.

Mr. Kashiwagi Shigeyuki is the chairman. He noted the deep connections to the school. He said that three generations of families attended the old school building. He hopes these memories will last. He wants to pass them on to future generations.

The school’s characters are “Oakubo-ya” and “Miotan”. They add a touch of fun to the school’s identity. A platinum plane tree stands near the new building. It symbolizes growth. It represents the enduring legacy of Narashino Municipal Okubo Elementary School.

The spirit of “Kotoba no Manabiya” continues. It fosters friendship. It cherishes values. These values will resonate forever. Narashino Municipal Okubo Elementary School is a place where memories are made. It is a place where the future begins.
