Established in 1946, the Shakaihoken Kyoto Hospital, later known as the Kyoto Kuramaguchi Medical Center, has a rich history. Initially called the “Kenko Hoken Kuramaguchi Hospital,” it opened its doors on July 20th of the same year. Located in Kyoto’s Kita Ward, Shakaihoken Kyoto Hospital quickly became an integral part of the community’s healthcare. The hospital expanded its role in 1962, becoming a general hospital. A significant milestone occurred in 1990 with the name change to Shakaihoken Kyoto Hospital. This reflected its growing importance within the social security system. In 1997 the hospital achieved further recognition as a designated clinical training hospital. Another transformation took place on April 1, 2014. The hospital became the Japan Community Healthcare Organization Kyoto Kuramaguchi Medical Center. This marked its integration into a larger national healthcare network. Today, the Kyoto Kuramaguchi Medical Center continues this legacy of comprehensive care. It offers a broad range of specialties. These include internal medicine, surgery, and several others, equipped with modern technology like Helical CT and MRI/MRA. Even on Wednesday afternoons, the center adapts, serving as a ladies’ day facility. This adaptability and patient-focused approach exemplify the spirit of the original Shakaihoken Kyoto Hospital, constantly evolving to meet community needs.
