Have you packed your flashlight? We are about to descend into the fascinating depths of Shihua Cave. It is also known as Stone Flower Cave. Shihua Cave awaits us with its mystical allure.

Shihua Cave is located in Beijing’s Fangshan District. It is a geopark with karst caves. These caves are among the most famous in China.

Imagine this. Seventy million years ago, earth movements began the formation of this cave. Ground water slowly dissolved the limestone. This created the multi-level structure we see today.

So far, seven floors have been discovered in Shihua Cave. The first six floors show cave landscapes. The seventh floor hides an underground river. It is a dark river, adding to the cave’s mystique.

Only four levels are currently open to tourists. These levels cover a 2.5 km tour route. It is a journey filled with stalactites and stalagmites. They display shapes that spark the imagination. The cave has sixteen halls. Within these halls are eighteen scenic areas. Over 120 landscapes await our discovery.

The cave maintains a temperature around 13 degrees Celsius all year. It provides a refreshing escape no matter the season.

As we explore Shihua Cave, look for the unique speleothems. These include stone flowers and crystal flowers. Observe the rimstone pools and cave popcorn formations. The colorful lighting enhances the views. It creates a dreamlike atmosphere.

Shihua Cave has earned many titles. It is a National Scenic Spot and a National Geological Park. It is also recognized as a National Natural Heritage site. Furthermore, Shihua Cave is a AAAA Grade Tourist Scenic Spot. It also serves as a Beijing Science Popularization Base.

Did you know that Shihua Cave was once known as Qianzhen Cave? It was also called Ten Buddha Cave or Stone Buddha Cave. These names reflect the cave’s rich history and spiritual significance.

Remember to wear comfortable shoes. The cave floor can be slippery. The lowest level features an underground river. Listen to the soothing sounds of flowing water.

Shihua Cave is a reminder of nature’s artistry. The views will stay with you long after you leave its cool depths.
