Ikoma Sanroku Park officially opened in 1991. It transformed the former site of the Ikoma Tech grounds which closed in 1965. The park spans approximately 303,000 square meters. It provides ample space for recreation and relaxation.
The park’s management has evolved. Until March 2007, Ikoma City owned and managed the park. Then, a series of management changes occurred due to administrative inefficiencies.
Since July 2014, a joint venture has overseen the park’s operations. This collaborative effort aimed to revitalize the park. They wanted to enhance its appeal to visitors.
Ikoma Sanroku Park boasts a range of facilities. There is an outdoor activity center with camping grounds. A “Fureai Center” offers lodging and training facilities. Though the indoor heated pool closed in March 2015, there are still many opportunities to enjoy.
Visitors can enjoy tennis courts and a multi-purpose field. The park also features a large grassy area. Here, visitors can find preserved K1-shaped structures from the former Kintetsu Ikoma Cable Line.
Getting to Ikoma Sanroku Park is relatively easy. You can take the Nara Kotsu Bus from Higashi-Ikoma Station. You can also get there from Ikoma Station’s south exit on the Kintetsu Nara Line. The bus offers a direct route to the park. There are even special buses back to the station. These run every hour for a reasonable fee. Adults pay 200 yen. Children and disabled individuals pay 100 yen.
