“Completed!” That’s the word buzzing around Osaka, about the \u7406\u5b66\u90e8\uff27\u68df. Here we stand before this new building. It is part of Osaka Metropolitan University.
\u7406\u5b66\u90e8\uff27\u68df is located on the Sugimoto Campus in Sumiyoshi Ward. This new building officially opened in 2024. It provides a stimulating space for students. Chemistry students can nourish their minds. It sparks their intellectual curiosity.

On April 3, 2024, a symposium celebrated the completion of the new \u7406\u5b66\u90e8\uff27\u68df on the Sugimoto Campus. The symposium took place in the Science Hall.
After greetings from Aiku Terakita. He is the Dean of the Faculty and Graduate School of Science. Professors gave accessible research introductions. These professors were Sadano Ozaki. He is from Mathematics. Hiroaki Takenouchi studies Physics. Chieko Hosokawa specializes in Chemistry. Mitsumasa Koyanagi is in Biology. And Naoko Ashida studies Earth Science. Professor Yutaka Kato teaches Biological Chemistry. About 100 people attended. This included online participants. There was lively discussion that crossed fields of expertise.
But let’s step back in time. The Faculty of Science at Osaka University has a rich history. It began in 1931. It was established alongside the Faculty of Medicine. At that time, the university was known as Osaka Imperial University. Both faculties were in Kita-ku. This is now Chuo-ku Nakanoshima 4-chome.
In 1963, the Faculty of Science began moving to the Toyonaka area. This move was completed in 1966. Interestingly during construction of the science building. Workers discovered a Machikanewani fossil.
Over the years, the Faculty of Science has expanded. In 1952, the Graduate School of Science was established. It offered master’s programs in eight fields. These included Mathematics and Physics. Also Chemistry and Biology.
In 1959, a doctoral program was added. New facilities were established. These included the Research Center for Nuclear Physics. There was also the Low-Temperature Center.
In 1995, a major reorganization occurred. Most faculty members from the College of General Education joined the Faculty of Science. This created a unified educational system. It provided education from enrollment to graduation.
Today, the \u7406\u5b66\u90e8\uff27\u68df represents a new chapter. The \u7406\u5b66\u90e8\uff27\u68df is a modern space for learning. It embodies the spirit of scientific exploration. It is a place where students pursue knowledge. They push the boundaries of science.
