“A geomantic treasure land,” they called it. Yuquan Mountain and its surroundings have been a famous landscape in Beijing’s suburbs since ancient times.

Today we stand near Yuquan Mountain at the edge of the Yiquan Suburban Park Boulder. This park offers a tranquil escape. It is a welcome contrast to Beijing’s urban bustle. Imagine a serene forest. Can you feel the fresh air?

Yuquan Suburban Park borders the Summer Palace to the east. To the west lies Fragrant Hills. To the north is Yuquan Mountain. To the south flows the Jin River. This location makes it a naturally beautiful place. The park’s design blends seamlessly with its surroundings.

Paths wind through the park creating a peaceful forest bathing experience. There is little artificial construction here. The park emphasizes its natural wild atmosphere. You can wander into a quiet and refreshing space.

Yuquan Mountain itself contributes to the area’s charm. Its name appeared first in the “History of Jin.” The springs were called “Yuquan” because their water was as clear and blue as jade. Yuquan Mountain has been a famous scenic resort since ancient times.

Jingming Garden is near Yuquan Mountain. It adds to the area’s scenic beauty. The garden covers 75 hectares. Thirteen hectares are water. The Qing Dynasty built Chengxin Park here in 1680. It became Jingming Garden in 1692. It then became a royal forbidden garden.

To reach Yuquan Suburban Park, you can take bus routes 469 or 539. Get off at Zhongcao Station and walk about 500 meters west. Alternatively, take bus routes 698, 360, or 714 to Xiaozhuang. If you drive, take the West Fourth Ring Road to the Fragrant Hills-Yuquan Mountain exit. Then follow the signs.
