Tucked away in the Longgang District, discover the Shenzhen Keyuan School. It’s a relatively young institution, established in 2007. Yet, in its short history, Shenzhen Keyuan School has become a vital part of the Buji community. The school serves both primary and secondary students, offering a nine-year consistent education. It’s overseen by the Longgang District Education Bureau and is part of the South China Normal University Longgang Affiliated Middle School Education Group. Shenzhen Keyuan School boasts an impressive campus. It covers approximately 37,000 square meters, with a total building area of 20,347 square meters. Imagine the bustling hallways filled with the energy of over 2,800 students in 67 classes. The school embraces a philosophy of “harmonious education” amidst the “mountains and waters”. This is reflected in their publications, “Keyi” and “Harmonious Keyuan”. Shenzhen Keyuan School is more than just classrooms and textbooks. It’s a hub of student activity. The student-run Keyuan School Broadcast Station provides daily broadcasts, acting as the school’s voice. There are also other student organizations, like the Student Council and the Etiquette Department, though their presence is less known. Even the school’s leadership experienced a transition. In 2021, Zhang Jianyi took the helm as principal, succeeding Bai Fangkui. The school faced challenges, like extended class times for ninth graders and controversies surrounding student government interference. During the 2019 coronavirus pandemic, the entire school underwent nucleic acid testing. Thankfully, all results came back negative. A significant development happened in December 2021. The South China Normal University affiliated Keyuan School was formally established. This filled a void for quality education in the Buji area. Today, Shenzhen Keyuan School continues to grow, educating the next generation amidst the backdrop of Shenzhen’s dynamic landscape.
