Hirakata City Fourth Junior High School became a research school for computer education in May 1996. The Ministry of Education designated it. In May 2000, it became a research school for human rights education. The Ministry of Education also designated it. These designations reflect the school’s commitment to innovative education.

In April 2001, Mura no Junior High School closed. Hirakata City Fourth Junior High School absorbed part of its former district. In 2010, school districts changed again. The school district of Hirakata City Koyo Elementary School changed. Graduates used to be divided between Fourth and Higashikosugi. Now they attend Higashikosugi Junior High School.

The school’s current district includes several elementary schools. These are Hirakata City Hiraki Elementary School. Hirakata City Itsutsuji Elementary School. Hirakata City Yamazono Elementary School. This shows the school’s central position in local education.

Takashi Ishida is an alumnus. He is a pitcher for the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles. Manga artist, Koji Murata went to this school. Actress, Satoshi Hashimoto is also an alumna. Track and field athlete, Naoki Nishioka also went to this school.
