Let’s step back in time. The Osaka Refinery started in 1891. It was part of the Imperial Household Ministry’s Ikuno branch office. In 1896, Mitsubishi took over. For about 100 years, the factory refined non-ferrous metals. This included gold, silver, and copper.
The \u65e7\u5929\u6e80\u6a4b\u7b4b\u7cbe\u932c\u6240\u6b62\u9762\u306e\u9580\u67f1 served as the main entrance. It stood from when the refinery was built. It remained until development began.
Look closely at the monument’s explanation plate. Notice anything special? The copper used to make the sign came from the refinery. It is made from copper extracted during the refining process. Molten copper from the furnace was poured into molds. It then became an electrolytic anode plate.
The OAP Osaka Amenity Park was developed on the site of the former refinery. The park includes the OAP Tower, completed in 1996. The Imperial Hotel Osaka is also located here.
