“Did you know that Jiuxian Old Town was once the heart of Yanqing?” I ask. It traded the title of county center many years ago. Yet, its stories remain etched in every stone.

We are standing before the 旧县古城遗址 a site where history whispers through the ages. This town now known as Jiuxian was the Jinshan County seat. Later, it became Longqing County and finally Yanqing County. This was before 1316. Imagine the weight of centuries.

Jiuxian is more than just an old town. It is a living museum. The name Jiuxian itself nods to its past. It was the core of Yanqing.

Mountains embrace Jiuxian Town. It shares borders with several towns and townships. Houcheng lies to its north. Xiangying Township and Yongning Town are to its east. Shenjiaying Town is to its south. Zhangshanying Town is to its west.

In 2020, Jiuxian was home to 17676 people. The area spans 114.9 square kilometers. Life here moves at a different pace. You feel the pulse of history with every step.

Let’s wander through Jiuxian. Picture life in the town. Can you envision traders bargaining in the streets? Can you see officials hurrying to their duties?

The architecture of Jiuxian tells tales of dynasties. While strolling the grounds, imagine people walking the same paths centuries ago. Their hopes and dreams echo in the stones.

Jiuxian’s history extends beyond its administrative role. The town has seen the rise and fall of empires. Its people have weathered countless storms. The resilience is palpable.

The old town of Jiuxian is near the Yulong River in Guilin. It began in AD 621. It is close to the ancient town of Guiyi County. Qing Dynasty styles mark many buildings here. Painted beams and carved pillars are exquisite.

The Jinshi Di estate once belonged to Qixuan Li. He held the Jinshi title during the Qing Dynasty. Xingshu Li a general during the Second Sino-Japanese War also lived here. Loopholes and watch keys decorate the walls. About 44 ancient houses share Jiuxian Village’s story.

Locals welcome visitors. They share green vegetables domestic animals and fish. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere here is pleasant.
