Consider this a portal. Beyond it lies a place where the mundane fades. That place is Nippuji Temple.
Welcome to Nippuji Temple also known as Nichifū-ji. It is a Buddhist temple. It is a place of peace. It is a sanctuary amid Osaka’s vibrant energy. Nippuji temple has four groups. These groups are called Koenkai. There is a stout year group. There is also a women’s association. Another group is the youth association. The last group is the child association.
Let’s talk about the children’s association. It is mainly for junior high school students. Once a month they gather. After worship they enjoy snacks together.
The temple opens its doors to everyone. The Nippuji Temple hosts events. In June they had the anniversary. Locals and friends gathered for it. Around 200 people joined the celebration.
Nippuji Temple also conducts memorial services. One such service is the Founder’s memorial. It honors the founder of Honmon Butsuryū sect. This happens every spring.
Once the youth association went on a trip to Kyoto. They departed from Nippuji Temple. Their first stop was Honzan Yuseiji Temple.
In January the youth association held a coming-of-age ceremony. New adults pledged before the Buddha. They celebrated their entry into adulthood.
Nippuji Temple is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a living community. It’s a place for gatherings. It’s a space for spiritual growth. It is right here in Osaka. It is waiting to embrace you with its warmth and history.
