Two sections of the old bridge were reused. The rest was demolished and rebuilt.

Over the years the Xinzao Zhujiang Te Da Qiao underwent several renovations. It was adapted to accommodate increasing traffic. Its design evolved to become safer more efficient. The Xinzao Zhujiang Te Da Qiao has been described as “double bridge smoke and rain”. The name references its dual bridges and the often misty weather.
Today the Xinzao Zhujiang Te Da Qiao faces yet another transformation. It is undergoing significant upgrades. This is to make way for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen high-speed rail line. The eastern bridge will be entirely rebuilt. The western bridge will be reinforced and updated. The project aims to create a modern structure. It will maintain the bridge’s historical essence. The Xinzao Zhujiang Te Da Qiao stands ready for the future. It will continue to connect generations to come.
