Looking up in the courtyard you can see Number 3 on the second floor. Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao lived there. The long narrow wooden windows are closed. Neighbors say the owner moved abroad years ago.
Number 3 is two rooms and one hall. It covers about 40 square meters. The furnishings were simple. The living room had sofas a tea table and a square dining table. Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao’s room had a Western-style bed and a desk. There were also suitcases and foreign books brought from France. Deng Yingchao’s mother lived in the middle room. Next to it were the kitchen and toilet.
In early 1926 the Communist Party of China’s Guangdong District Committee moved. Zhou Enlai and Deng Yingchao moved from 文德楼 to Wanfu Road. They lived here until Zhou Enlai left Guangzhou in 1927.
