Established in 1942 Chengdu No. 8 Middle School has a rich history. Originally named Chengdu City Middle School. It reflects a changing China.
Chengdu No. 8 Middle School split in 1944. It became the City Boys’ Middle School and City Girls’ Middle School. A new chapter began in 1952. The schools were renamed. The boys’ school became Chengdu No. 8 Middle School. The girls’ school became Chengdu No. 6 Middle School.
Fast forward to 1982. Chengdu No. 8 Middle School was recognized. It became one of the first key provincial high schools. Another change came in 2001. Chengdu No. 8 Middle School merged with Chengdu No. 6 Middle School. The name Chengdu No. 8 Middle School was retained. It remained a key provincial high school.
Chengdu No. 8 Middle School achieved further recognition. In 2002 it was named a provincial model high school. By 2006 the school was nationally recognized. It passed the initial evaluation for national model high schools.
