Here at GAC R&D Center, we witness the future being shaped. Its core mission involves independent product development. The center also formulates and executes independent technology plans. It is responsible for the overall technology management of GAC GROUP.
Supported by R&D centers in America and GAC Advanced Design Shanghai, the Guangzhou headquarters leads a global R&D network. This network brings together leading suppliers and R&D institutions worldwide. It ensures GAC R&D Center remains at the forefront of automotive technology.
Inside GAC R&D Center are world-leading R&D facilities. These include 15 types of labs for vehicles powertrain new energy and intelligent connected vehicles. A trial production factory produces 800 sample vehicles each year. A special track is available for car tuning. These facilities show the commitment to innovation.
Over 30 billion yuan has been invested in independent research and development. The GAC R&D Center employs over 4300 individuals. Ninety-two percent hold a bachelor’s or higher degree. 110 employees have a PhD. This highly educated team drives the center’s research efforts.

Two automatic production lines ensure high-quality and high-precision pressing of complex workpieces. The lines feature world-class servo presses mechanical presses and AGVs. The welding workshop has five main production lines. They use advanced technology and robotics. This provides a five-star safety guarantee for GAC MOTOR production.
The painting workshop uses safe and environmentally friendly water-based paint. Advanced technology guarantees vehicles meet the 10-year corrosion prevention standard. Robot spray painting improves spraying efficiency and reduces emissions. The GAC MOTOR powertrain plant organizes production according to vehicle order. It uses advanced facilities and rigorous inspection standards. This ensures premium quality for every motor.
The vehicle testing line guarantees the function and safety of every vehicle before delivery. It includes static mandatory testing and side-slip measurements. The main conveying lines maximize space. World-class equipment combined with GAC MOTOR’s unique production mode enables multiple models to be produced on the same line. The plant exemplifies intelligent manufacturing. It integrates production automation information digitalization and intelligent management.
“Production automation” is maximized in stamping welding and spray painting. IT equipment covers the entire line. It enables autonomous recognition sensing and human-computer interaction.
Based on advanced IoT technology the plant has opened up all links in the production process. This creates a fully visualized and traceable “transparent factory.” The industry’s first “intelligent manufacturing execution system” (iMES) is at its center.
The GAC MOTOR plant uses water-saving and environment-friendly technologies. It aims to be energy-efficient ecological and socially responsible. The painting shop realizes zero waste water generation and emission.
