“All aboard!” It is not just a saying here at the Guangzhou Railway Museum. This museum stands on the very site of the old Huangsha Station. It is a place where the echoes of Guangzhou’s railway history come to life.

The Guangzhou Railway Museum is more than just a building. It is a journey back in time. Huangsha Station first opened its doors in July 1907. For decades, it bustled with passengers and trains. In 1946, passenger services ceased. The station was then renamed Guangzhou South. Finally, it closed completely in 2005.

But the story does not end there. On International Museum Day, May 18, 2022, the Guangzhou Railway Museum opened. Now, it welcomes visitors to explore the rich heritage of Guangzhou’s railways. The museum covers a vast area. The indoor space spans about 18,500 square meters. The outdoor area adds another 10,500 square meters.

Here, you will find a fascinating collection of railway artifacts. Admire the China Railways JS steam locomotive. See the powerful China Railways DF4D diesel-electric locomotive. The China Railways SS6B electric locomotive is also on display. Step inside the China Railways type 22 coaches. These hard seat cars offer a glimpse into past journeys. The China Railways 25G rolling stock showcases a dining car.

Explore the China Railways P1 Boxcar. Once, there was even a China Railway DJJ1 power car. Another highlight was the China Railways 25C rolling stock. This was a class 2 soft seat car.

The Guangzhou Railway Museum preserves the basic features of the old Huangsha Station. As you wander through the museum, imagine the station in its heyday.
