Right here, at 183 Guangyuan West Road in the Yuexiu District of Guangzhou, stands a testament to resilience and transformation. Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University North Campus wasn’t always a beacon of higher learning. Its story began in 1957 as the Guangdong Institute of Nationalities. Imagine the bustling energy of students from diverse backgrounds converging on this very spot. In 1961, the institute moved to Hainan, only to face closure during the tumultuous years of the Cultural Revolution. Yet, like a phoenix rising from ashes, it reopened in 1974 and returned to Guangzhou in 1978. Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University North Campus has witnessed remarkable growth and evolution. The university merged with Guangdong School of Mechanical Engineering in 2002. Later, in 2005, Guangdong Economic Management Institute and Guangdong Finance and Trade Management Institute joined its ranks. This fusion of institutions enriched the academic landscape and expanded its reach across disciplines. Finally, in 2018, the institution officially became Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, solidifying its place as a leading university. Today, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University North Campus continues its mission of training skilled teachers for vocational schools and colleges.
