Construction of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance Building started in 1915. It was a two-phase project. The first phase completed in 1919. It gave us the first three floors. The second phase added the fourth and fifth floors. It also added the rooftop.

Note the granite steps. They lead to the second floor. Notice the Roman-style columns at the main entrance. These rise through the third floor. The building features arches on the third floor. Twin columns support the entablature on the fourth floor. Inside, a spiral staircase leads to a dome.

In 1978, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Finance Building underwent renovations. The original wooden floors were replaced with concrete. Interior walls were removed. The windows were replaced with aluminum alloy. The mountain flower decoration above the main entrance was removed. The exterior walls were refinished.
