Though its origins are unclear it is believed to have been founded in the Kamakura period. Originally, \u5e38\u6027\u5bfa was located near the Tama River. It moved to its current location between 1596 and 1615.

The temple is associated with Fudo Myoo. This association led to the name Chofu Fudoson. \u5e38\u6027\u5bfa enshrines other deities too. These include Yakushi Nyorai.

One notable feature is the Kobashi’s Batokannon pagoda. It is designated as Chofu City’s tangible folk cultural property. This pagoda was built in 1824. It was initially located near the Nogawa River. Road construction prompted its relocation to the temple grounds in 1955.

The pagoda enshrines Bato Kannon. The temple is the 69th temple on the Kanto Eighty-Eight Sacred Sites pilgrimage. It is also the 6th temple on the Tama Eighty-Eight Sacred Sites pilgrimage. \u5e38\u6027\u5bfa is part of the Chofu Seven Lucky Gods.
