Konnichiwa, students! Let’s uncover the story of Amagasaki City Kinrakuji Elementary School. Right here, in the heart of Amagasaki, stands a school brimming with history. Amagasaki City Kinrakuji Elementary School opened its doors on September 1, 1935, originally named Kodama Fourth Elementary School. Imagine the excitement of those first students, stepping into a brand-new school. Just a year later, in April 1936, the school was renamed Amagasaki City Kinrakuji Elementary School due to the merger of Amagasaki City and Kodama Village. The school song, a testament to this history, speaks of “yellow smoke rising” and the school “standing in the heart of the industrial city”. It reminds students of their school’s long history, celebrating more than ninety years. During World War II, in 1941, it briefly became Amagasaki City Kinrakuji National School. However, it returned to its current name, Amagasaki City Kinrakuji Elementary School, in 1947. Today, Kinrakuji Elementary serves the children of Kitaoji, Showa-dori, Kinrakuji, Nishinagasu, and Nagasu-Hon-dori. The majority of students from Amagasaki City Kinrakuji Elementary School continue their education at Amagasaki City Seiryo Junior High School. Some students choose to attend private junior high schools. As of 2012, Kinrakuji Elementary School had 476 students.
