Established in 1947, Osaka Shiritsu Yatada Junior High School has witnessed a lot of history. Originally, Yatada Junior High served the students of the Nakakawachi District’s Yatada Village. As the area transformed and more families moved in, the school grew too. In 1970, it spawned a second school, Yatada South Junior High, to accommodate the booming population. This division reflects Yatada Junior High’s integral role in this Osaka community. Yatada Junior High School is located in Higashi-Suminoe ward. For a time, Yatada Junior High even offered school lunches, a rare practice for public junior high schools in Osaka. This program operated until 2007, reflecting the school’s dedication to its students’ well-being. Now, as we stand before its gates, I encourage you to imagine the generations who walked these halls before you. Think of the echoes of laughter, the hurried footsteps, and the quiet moments of learning that have shaped this place. Two notable alumni, Shunichi Ito, and Shinta Uron Panda, pursued professional sports careers. Ito, a pro soccer player, made school history as its first professional athlete. Uron Panda pursued a career as a comedian. These diverse paths embody the school’s encouragement of varied talents.
