Gazing upon Muko Elementary School, can you sense the echoes of children’s laughter and the quiet murmur of diligent study? This school, known as 市立武庫小学校 in Japanese, has been a cornerstone of the community since its establishment on April 1, 1974. Let’s embark on a journey through time, exploring the rich history woven into the very fabric of Muko Elementary School. Originally, the school was located in the old Muko Village as Tsunematsu Elementary School. This was due to the Meiji 6.2.20 education system announcement. The school began with two teachers and 116 pupils: 65 boys and 51 girls. Changes came swiftly. On May 17, 1974, Moribe Village established Moribe Elementary School. On August 11th of the same year, Moribe Elementary merged with Tsunematsu Elementary. A new chapter began on July 1, 1975, with a new building in Tsunematsu Village. The school’s name also changed to Tsuneyoshi Elementary School. It then became Kanzaki Elementary School on April 1, 1977. With the implementation of the village system in 1979, the village’s name changed to Muko, and on May 5, 1980, Kanzaki Elementary School was renamed Muko Elementary School. The school’s history isn’t just about names and locations. It’s a testament to the community’s dedication to education. In 1976, the school expanded with the addition of four new classrooms in the south building. Further expansion took place in 1980, adding four more classrooms and a staff room. The school celebrated its 10th anniversary in 1983 and continued to grow, adding special classrooms in 1984. Renovations and improvements were constant, from the pool in 1986 to the machinery room in 1987. Muko Elementary marked its 15th anniversary in 1988 and updated its Wakakusa classroom. Further renovations included an audiovisual room and comprehensive landscaping in 1991, followed by exterior renovations and a science room in 1992. Muko Elementary continued to modernize, installing western-style restrooms and new televisions in 1993 and celebrating its 20th anniversary. The Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 caused some damage, but the school served as a shelter. Repairs were completed in 1996, and a computer room was added. Muko Elementary School stands as more than just bricks and mortar. It stands as a symbol of resilience, growth, and the enduring power of education.
