The school continued to adapt. In 1926 it adopted the name Sonoda Daiichi Higher Elementary School, before being designated Sonoda Daiichi National School in 1941 under the National School Ordinance. A dark chapter unfolded during World War II. The school, located near the Mitsubishi Electric Itami manufacturing plant, suffered a devastating air raid in 1945. The school building was completely destroyed. Undeterred, classes continued in borrowed civilian facilities. The spirit of Sonoda Elementary School remained unbroken. After the war, as Sonoda Village merged with Amagasaki City in 1947, the school became Amagasaki Shiritsu Sonoda Daiichi National School. With the educational reforms of that same year, it was renamed Amagasaki Shiritsu Sonoda Elementary School. Today, Sonoda Elementary stands as a testament to the enduring power of education. The school has seen numerous renovations and additions. These updates include improved classrooms, a new gym, and facilities for children with disabilities.
