Then, a significant transformation occurred in 2012. The Ministry of Education approved a name change to Beijing Open University, granting it the authority to offer degrees. Today, Shanxi University has expanded its reach across Beijing. It boasts three main campuses: Liangjun Temple, White Pagoda Temple, and Xizhimen. It also manages numerous teaching locations throughout the city. This vast network allows the university to provide lifelong learning opportunities to a diverse population. It serves as a community education center, a senior open university, and a training hub for various industries. It even manages the Beijing branch of the National Open University. This expansion signifies the university’s commitment to serving the community and promoting accessible education for all.
