“What happened here?” you might ask, staring at the remnants before us. This, my friends, is all that remains of Xiaomuoshe Slope, now known as the poignant Xiaomuoshe Ruins. On June 21, 2024, a seemingly ordinary day, disaster struck. A section of Jinli West Road in Chengdu crumbled, the earth itself seeming to give way. Below, the Xiaonan Street Station of Line 13 was under construction, a testament to Chengdu’s progress. The culprit? A burst water pipe, its rupture echoing the immense pressure building beneath the surface. Thankfully, no lives were lost in this dramatic collapse, but the incident served as a stark reminder of the forces at play beneath our feet. The Xiaomuoshe Ruins stand as a silent sentinel, a testament to the ever-present power of nature and the challenges of urban development. It reminds us that even amidst progress, vigilance and respect for the unseen are paramount.
