He believed this would foster a sense of ownership and pride. When the Room Bloom team first visited, they were greeted by enthusiastic children. The team was struck by the children’s perspective. They noticed details that adults often overlooked. The team realized the importance of designing from a child’s point of view. They focused on the understairs area, a space often overlooked. It held the potential to become a vibrant hub. The existing wall there showed signs of age, hinting at years of children’s play. The team decided to revitalize this space with a fresh coat of paint. The color selection process became a school-wide event. Students learned about color theory and the effects of different hues. They voted on their favorite colors, giving names like “Fluffy Color” and “Night Sky Color.” The painting itself was a collaborative effort, with students, teachers, and community members participating. On July 22nd, 2014, the transformation began. The children, armed with brushes and rollers, added their personal touches to the understairs area. The project was more than just painting. It was a lesson in teamwork, creativity, and the power of community. The children’s joy was infectious. Their laughter and chatter filled the air. Even the most reluctant painters were caught up in the excitement. The newly painted understairs area became a popular gathering spot. The project’s success is evident in the students’ reactions. “The pink, yellow, blue, and green walls make everything brighter,” one student commented.
