守口市立錦中学校

In 1980, amidst the bustling energy of Osaka, the Moriguchi Municipal Nishiki Junior High School, or 守口市立錦中学校, emerged. It was established as the tenth junior high school in Moriguchi City, separating from the fourth junior high school. The school’s motto, emphasizing respect for all life, including one’s own, became a cornerstone of Nishiki Junior High. This principle has guided their educational activities for over 40 years. Nishiki Junior High School sits in the southern part of Moriguchi City. It’s nestled in a unique, almost triangular area, bordered by the Himuro Green Space to the south, National Route 163 to the west, and the Chuo Kanjo Line to the east. Uniquely, Nishiki Elementary, directly adjacent to the junior high, is the only feeder school, creating a close-knit “one elementary, one junior high” community. This fosters a strong sense of community and belonging among the students. Nishiki Junior High has a rich history of community involvement. Local residents actively participate in school life, contributing to activities like security patrols and the school’s brass band. They also volunteer their time for practical skills workshops like tailoring, cooking, and woodworking. They contribute to environmental projects, such as flower planting and tree trimming. This symbiotic relationship between the school and the community is further strengthened by the School Management Council, established in 2002. This council provides a platform for parents, teachers, and community members to collaborate and support the school’s initiatives. One such initiative, born from the council’s discussions, is the “Wan Wan Patrol,” where community members walk their dogs around the school, enhancing safety. In 2005, Nishiki Junior High, along with Nishiki Elementary School, became designated as a “Smart School Model School” by the Osaka Prefectural Government. This designation led to the implementation of a one-to-one tablet program and research into innovative teaching methods using technology. They continue this technological advancement and educational research today.
