Let’s step back in time. Imagine Charles Frederick Warren. He was a missionary from the Church Mission Society. Warren started holding Japanese language services. He did this at his home in the Kawaguchi settlement. His arrival in Japan was in 1873.
In 1877 the first dedicated worship hall was built. A significant moment came in 1878. It was on Trinity Sunday. The church was officially named \u5927\u962a\u8056\u4e09\u4e00\u6559\u4f1a.
The church played a role in education. In 1884 a small school for boys began in the church. It was called Trinity School. This school later became Momoyama Gakuin.
In 1887 the church moved to Kyomachibori. A new building was constructed. This was the second worship hall. Warren passed away in Hiroshima in 1899. To honor him, Warren Hall was completed in 1899. It was located in Kyomachibori.
Another relocation occurred in 1912. A new church building was erected. It was the third worship hall. Tragedy struck in 1934. The church suffered major damage. This was due to a typhoon. In 1939 the church moved to its current location. It is in Higashisumiyoshi Ward. A temporary worship hall and parsonage were built. These were called Warren Hall.
The fourth worship hall was completed in 1965. A new chapter began in 2022. The fifth worship hall was completed. It incorporated a local community childcare facility. The facility is named Tsumugi.
\u5927\u962a\u8056\u4e09\u4e00\u6559\u4f1a will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2025. The church offers Sunday services every week.
The second Sunday of each month is special. It is a communion service for children. The church also holds bazaars and concerts. These events foster a sense of community.
