Osaka Prefecture University Graduate School I-site represents a commitment to academic excellence. It stands as a testament to Osaka’s pursuit of knowledge. The university itself has a rich history. It evolved through mergers and transformations.

Originally, the Veterinary Training Institute marked an early beginning. It was founded in 1883. This institute later became part of Osaka Prefecture University. Over time, other colleges joined. These included Osaka Women’s University and Osaka Prefecture College of Nursing. This unification formed Osaka Prefecture University in 2005.

In April 2022, Osaka Prefecture University merged with Osaka City University. This created Osaka Metropolitan University. Still, the legacy of Osaka Prefecture University lives on through its graduate school I-site.

The Graduate School offers diverse programs. These include engineering, life and environmental sciences and science. Economics, humanities and social sciences are also included. Nursing and comprehensive rehabilitation are further options. Each program prepares students for leadership.

The university has several campuses. The main campus is located among big Kofun tombs in Sakai, Osaka. The nursing campus is located in Habikino.

Osaka Prefecture University was known for its campus life. It offered a relaxing atmosphere. Parks provided space for recreation. Cafeterias were popular spots for students and professors. The university also hosted school festivals. The Shirasagi festival was a tradition for over 60 years.

Osaka Prefecture University I-site played a significant role in Osaka’s academic landscape. It produced graduates who held prominent positions. A 2006 survey ranked the university 21st in Japan. This was based on graduates becoming company presidents and CEOs. Another survey in 2020 ranked it 16th.

While Osaka Prefecture University no longer exists as a separate entity, its Graduate School I-site continues to contribute to Osaka Metropolitan University. It builds upon a foundation of education and research. It strives to meet the challenges of our evolving world. It remains a place where students shape their futures. It is a place that continues to contribute to Osaka’s vibrant intellectual community.
