“What was once the Osaka City Second Nishinoda Jinjo Elementary School?” That is what people asked before it became what is now known as Osaka Municipal Noda Elementary School.

Let’s delve into the history of this educational institution. Osaka Municipal Noda Elementary School is a public elementary school. It is located in Noda 5-chome, Fukushima-ku, Osaka City.

The school’s history dates back to 1903. It was initially established as Osaka City Second Nishinoda Jinjo Elementary School. The school opened in the Nishinoda Ima Kai-cho area of Kita-ku. This area is now Noda 1-chome. It was created by splitting off from Osaka City First Nishinoda Elementary School. This was the current Tamagawa Elementary School.

The school briefly had a higher elementary school division. It was called Osaka City Second Nishinoda Jinjo Higher Elementary School. This division was established in 1907. It was then abolished in 1914.

In 1919, Osaka City Fourth Nishinoda Jinjo Elementary School opened. This led to a reorganization of school districts.

The higher elementary school division was revived in 1925. It was again called Osaka City Second Nishinoda Jinjo Higher Elementary School. However, it was abolished again in 1930.

Typhoon Muroto caused damage to the school building in 1934. In 1939, the higher elementary school division was abolished for the final time. The school’s name was changed to Osaka City Noda Jinjo Elementary School.

In 1941, the school’s name changed again. It became Osaka City Noda National School due to the national school ordinance.

In 1942, Ashi-wake National School was integrated into Noda National School. The former Ashi-wake school building became a regional branch.

During World War II, in 1944, group evacuation to places like Fukuyama City was carried out. In 1945, part of the school building was damaged in the Great Osaka Air Raid.

After the war, in 1947, the school system was reformed. The school’s name was changed to Osaka Municipal Noda Elementary School.

The school has received recognition for its school lunch program. In 1956, it was commended by the Osaka Prefecture School Lunch Association. In 1957, it received the Minister of Education Award as an excellent school for school lunch programs. It was also recognized for its health statistics. In 1960, it received the Minister of Education Award as an excellent school for health statistics surveys.

Osaka Municipal Noda Elementary School continues to serve the community. It provides education to the children of Osaka. The school has a long history of adapting to changing times. It has overcome numerous challenges throughout its existence.
