“In 1947, it all began.” That’s the short version of the story of Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School. But there is so much more.

Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School stands here today. It is a testament to Osaka’s commitment to education. It is located in the Nishi Ward. The school has a rich history. It has shaped countless young lives.

Originally, it was named Osaka Municipal Nishi Daiichi Junior High School. This translates to Osaka Municipal Nishi First Junior High School. It was the first new-system junior high in the Nishi Ward. The school was founded in 1947 on this very site. Interestingly, the buildings and grounds were repurposed. They had belonged to Hanazono National School. This school was ruined by war.

In April 1947, Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School created its school badge. They also wrote their school song. The name changed in May 1949. It became Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School. A pool was completed in August 1961.

In December 1975, the school received recognition. The Ministry of Education commended its athletic activities. Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School hosted a social studies conference in 2001.

The school’s motto is self-reliance. It also values friendship and truth. Respect for truth and joyous effort are key here. Students come from three elementary schools. These are Kujo East, Kujo South, and Kujo North.

Today, Osaka Municipal Nishi Junior High School continues its mission. It is educating the next generation. The dedicated faculty and staff are very committed. They shape well-rounded students.
