East Elementary School. That name might not ring a bell immediately. But its story is intertwined with Osaka’s growth.
Welcome to Osaka Municipal Tsumori East Elementary School. It is a public elementary school in Tsurumi Ward. The school is located in the eastern part of Osaka City.
Let’s step back to 1964. Osaka Municipal Tsumori East Elementary School began as a branch school. It was part of Osaka Municipal Tsumori North Elementary School.
In April 1965, it became independent. Osaka Municipal Tsumori East Elementary School officially opened.
The area transformed rapidly. The 1960s saw the construction of municipal housing complexes. This led to a surge in the number of students. East Elementary once had over 2,000 pupils. This overcrowding led to further school divisions.
Several schools spun off from East Elementary. This helped manage the growing student population.
Today, Osaka Municipal Tsumori East Elementary School continues its educational mission. It is located at 7-61 Tsumori Omiya 3-chome, Tsurumi Ward. The school’s coordinates are 34 degrees 42 minutes 31 seconds north latitude. Its east longitude is 135 degrees 35 minutes 44 seconds.
The Osaka Metro Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line serves the school. Yokozutsumi Station is about 800 meters southeast of the school. The Katamachi Line also provides access. The school is about 1000m north-northwest of Tokuan Station.
