“A school? What’s so special about that?” some of you might wonder as we stand before \u5927\u962a\u5e02\u7acb\u7530\u5ddd\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821. This isn’t just any school. It’s a place with a past.
\u5927\u962a\u5e02\u7acb\u7530\u5ddd\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821 stands in Osaka’s Yodogawa Ward. It is a public elementary school. The school’s story began in 1936.
Initially, it was a branch of the existing Kanzaki Normal High Elementary School. The rapidly growing student population led to the creation of this branch. It was called Kanzaki Normal High Elementary School, Tagawa Branch.
Just a few months later in June 1936, the branch became independent. It was renamed Osaka City Tagawa Normal Elementary School. In 1941, it was renamed again. This time it became Osaka City Tagawa National School. This change came about due to the National School Order.
During World War II, life changed drastically. In 1944, Osaka ordered student evacuations. This was due to worsening war conditions. Children from urban areas were sent to rural areas for safety. Tagawa National School students evacuated to Nose Town in Toyono County.
After the war in 1946, the school managed a branch in Tsukamoto. This branch had been part of the Kashima National School. In 1947, another name change occurred. It became Osaka City Tagawa Elementary School due to school system reforms. The Tsukamoto branch became independent in 1949. It is now known as Osaka City Tsukamoto Elementary School.
The current lecture hall at \u5927\u962a\u5e02\u7acb\u7530\u5ddd\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821 was completed in 1981. The pool was completed in 1984. Before that, the pool was where the cafeteria is now. The schoolyard used to be home to the Tagawa Kindergarten. When the kindergarten moved, the pool was newly built.
In 1998, the school completed a renovation. It added a school biotope to the site of the original, old wooden school building.
