From Meiji to today, the Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School has witnessed generations come and go. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of learning. Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School is located in the vibrant city of Osaka, specifically in the Kita district. Let’s step back in time to 1873. Imagine a small village school founded by a coalition of eight villages. This was the humble beginning of Kiyoshizuka Elementary, originally known as Senri Elementary School. The school wasn’t always known as Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School. It has undergone several name changes throughout its history, reflecting the evolving educational landscape of Japan. In 1909, it merged with another school and became Higashi-Senri Higher Elementary School. In 1922, the school split, and our Kiyoshizuka branch became the Kiyomizu Island Regular Higher Elementary School. With the village’s incorporation into Osaka City in 1925, the school adopted the name Osaka City Kiyomizu Island Regular Higher Elementary School. Further changes came in 1941, with the National School Order, and again in 1947, finally becoming Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School as we know it today. During World War II, the students were evacuated to the countryside for safety. They returned in 1945 to a changed world. The current school building, a symbol of resilience and renewal, was completed in 1953. Today, Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School is a lively hub of learning. It serves the local community, educating children from Kiyomizu 1-chome to 5-chome. If you listen closely, you can almost hear the echoes of generations past, mingling with the laughter of children playing in the schoolyard. Osaka City Kiyoshizuka Elementary School stands as a testament to the power of education to shape the future.
