Opened in 1989, the Osaka Municipal Miyakojima Library stands before you. It’s more than just a building. It’s a gateway to knowledge and a testament to Osaka’s commitment to learning. The Miyakojima Library is one of Osaka’s branch libraries, specifically serving the Chuo Ward’s Shimanouchi area. The library occupies a substantial 872.19 square meters. The main reading room itself spans an impressive 570 square meters. This three-story building also houses a community hall on the first and second floors. A sports center occupies the fourth and fifth floors. Imagine browsing through over 80,000 books. Perhaps you’d select a few and settle into the spacious reading room. Or maybe you’d explore the diverse collection of magazines, newspapers, DVDs, and videos. The library isn’t just about books. It’s a community hub. Here, you can borrow up to 15 items for 15 days. This includes books, CDs, DVDs, and cassettes. Remember, however, that CDs, DVDs, and cassettes are limited to five items. The Miyakojima Library opens its doors from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and November 3rd. From Tuesday to Friday, the hours extend to 10 am to 7 pm. The library observes closures on Mondays, except for national holidays. It’s also closed on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, unless it falls on a national holiday.
