Founded in 1947 amidst post-war reforms, it stands on the very ground of a former national elementary school. This older school, known as Osaka City Yasaka National School, was established in 1940. Osaka City Yasaka Junior High School inherited not only the land but also a piece of its name. The “Yasaka” part comes from the local Yasaka Shrine, whose eight sloping roofs gave the area its name. While the shrine uses the character for “slope,” the school opted for the character “hill,” a subtle yet intriguing difference. The school motto, “Hope, Learning, Gratitude,” encapsulates its spirit. These three pillars guide the students to live fulfilling lives, embrace knowledge, and appreciate their community. In 2001, Osaka City Yasaka Junior High School was recognized for its unique educational approach, emphasizing individual growth and community engagement.
