Established in 1874, Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School whispers tales of bygone eras. This school, right here before us, has witnessed Osaka’s transformation. Originally, two schools, the Seifu Elementary School and the Koryuji Elementary School, served the Nakatsu and Koryuji villages respectively. These merged in 1885, eventually becoming the Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School we know today. In 1904, the school relocated near Hankyu Nakatsu Station. This move reflected the growing population and the changing landscape of the area. Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School further expanded with the creation of a branch school in 1912. This catered to the lower grades across the Shin-Yodogawa River. This branch later came under the administration of Nakatsu Elementary’s sister school, Nakatsu Minami Elementary, in 1923. The early 20th century marked a vibrant period for youth baseball across Japan. Nakatsu Elementary School’s higher division team proudly participated in the 10th National Youth Baseball Tournament. They achieved national recognition, showcasing the school’s dedication to extracurricular activities. World War II left its mark on Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School. The school suffered damage, necessitating a merger with Nakatsu Minami Elementary School during the postwar reconstruction. However, due to community revitalization, they separated again in 1954. Another significant chapter in the school’s history unfolded in 1987. Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School moved to its current location. This marked a fresh start and a commitment to modern education. In more recent times, declining enrollment led to the re-merger of Nakatsu Elementary and Nakatsu Minami Elementary in 2010. The original Nakatsu Minami school grounds were largely incorporated into the current campus. Osaka Shiritsu Nakatsu Elementary School stands as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the community. It continues to nurture young minds, carrying forward its rich legacy while embracing the future.
