In 1930, Osaka City Misaki Elementary School first opened its doors. It welcomed 840 students from the former Tanimachi and Oncho schools. Misaki Elementary, now known as Osaka Shiritsu Misaki Elementary School, stands as a testament to resilience. The school has weathered many storms, both literal and figurative. In 1941, under the National School Order, the school became Misaki Kokumin School. During the tumultuous years of World War II, the school faced severe damage from air raids. In 1944, students were evacuated to Takamatsu City in Kagawa Prefecture. The school building tragically burned down in an air raid in 1945. Yet, even amidst destruction, education continued. Several neighboring schools merged with Misaki. The school reopened on its original site in 1950. Misaki Elementary also experienced significant flooding during Typhoon Jane and the Second Muroto Typhoon. The school has seen multiple renovations and expansions over the years. New classrooms and facilities have been added. A gymnasium and even a “Misaki Mountain” nature area were built. Today, Osaka Shiritsu Misaki Elementary School continues to nurture young minds. It carries a legacy of perseverance and community spirit, a beacon of education standing tall despite the challenges it has faced.
