Osaka Municipal Midori Elementary School stands here in Morimi Ward. It’s a public school with a fascinating story. The school’s name is read as “Ōsaka Shiritsu Midori Shōgakkō”.

Let’s dive into its history. The late 1960s and early 1970s saw a surge in the number of children in the area. Locals wanted a new elementary school. Its aim was to promote the establishment of a new school in the Midori district. April 1 1977 was the opening day. The school welcomed 121 new first-graders. Plus 472 students from Sumire Elementary. And 80 students from Morimi Elementary. On June 16 1977 the school badge was established. This day became the school’s anniversary.
