The Osaka Winter Campaign occurred in 1614. The battle took place near here. The area was not ideal for combat. It had streams of the old Yamato River and many wetlands.

On an unknown day in November 1614, the Tokugawa forces attacked. The Tokugawa forces were led by Sanada Yoshishige and Uesugi Katsu. They numbered 6,500. They faced the Osaka army guarding this strategic point.

The fighting was intense. Both sides clashed with spears. Fierce encounters occurred on the embankments. The battle raged until the 29th with alternating advances and retreats.

Reinforcements arrived. Kimura Shigenari and Goto Matabei joined the fray. Amidst the chaos, the Tokugawa forces broke through. That’s what history tells us.
