Established in 1952, Osaka Christian College, or OCC as it’s affectionately known, whispers a story of faith, education, and community. Right here in Abeno Ward, one of Osaka’s core wards, OCC’s roots intertwine with the Osaka Christian Gakuin, an institution with over 110 years of history. This deep connection has nurtured a legacy of trust, particularly in OCC’s esteemed Department of Early Childhood Education. Generations of kindergarten and nursery school teachers have blossomed within these walls, their influence radiating throughout the community and beyond. Osaka Christian College isn’t resting on its laurels. The college has embraced new horizons with the “Preparatory Japanese Language Course,” the “Nursing Care Course Bekka,” and the “EdTech Course, DX Global Class.” These programs reflect OCC’s commitment to internationalization and forward-thinking education in ICT and healthcare. The Preparatory Japanese Language Course prepares them for academic success, offering a supportive bridge to OCC’s degree programs. Students in the DX Global Class, established in the Spring Semester of 2024, dive into the world of ICT technology and DX knowledge. Osaka Christian College stands as a testament to its founder’s vision, 河野語吉, who established the Osaka Christian School in 1905. The school has weathered storms, including a devastating fire in 1945 that led to the closure of the affiliated Toyama Girls’ School. Yet, like a phoenix from the ashes, the spirit of education persevered. The school reopened in 1948, eventually transforming into the Osaka Christian College we know today. Osaka Christian College’s logo, a simple cross with “大” (large) above and “学” (study) below, symbolizes the college’s core values.
