It also enshrined the deity Oanamuchi-no-Mikoto, adding another layer to its spiritual significance. Omi Shrine isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a symbol of community and resilience. In 1929, the shrine relocated to its present location within Otsu’s Nagisa Park. The city generously provided the land. This move solidified Omi Shrine’s place in the heart of the city. The shrine’s history takes another turn in 1946. Amidst post-war recovery, Omi Shrine became a focal point for Shinto revival in the Shiga Prefecture. Its name officially changed to Otsu Shrine, reflecting its growing importance. Today, Otsu Shrine stands as a beacon of tradition and spiritual connection. It sits close to Zeze Station, a reminder of its accessibility to all who seek solace or connection to the past.
