Sakai City Shin Asakayama Elementary School is in the northern part of Sakai. It sits just south of the Yamato River. The school’s district actually borders Osaka City Sumiyoshi Ward. It lies in the Orehata district across the river.
The area around Sakai City Shin Asakayama Elementary School changed a lot. In the 1980s many flat public houses became mid and high-rise apartments. Also in 1987 the Osaka Municipal Subway Midosuji Line extended. It went from Abiko Station to Nakamozu Station. Because of these developments the population increased. To solve this the city reorganized three school districts. These were Sakai City Gobo Elementary School Sakai City Gobo East Elementary School and Sakai City Higashi Asakayama Elementary School. Sakai City Shin Asakayama Elementary School opened in 1988.
