Beneath the modern skyline, a beacon of faith stands. This is Shenzhen Christian Church. It is more than just a building. It is a testament to a community’s enduring spirit.

Shenzhen Christian Church’s story stretches back to 1846. Christianity’s introduction to Shenzhen started then. The Basel Mission and Rhenish Missionary Society established 27 churches. These were mainly in Bao’an.

Let’s jump to 1898. The Rhenish Missionary Society founded the old church in Luohu District. It was rebuilt in 1949. This shows resilience.

Then came 1966. The Cultural Revolution hit and Mao Zedong launched it. The church became a local government office. Church staff returned home to farm. All church activities stopped.

But faith finds a way. On May 27, 1984, the church reopened. This happened after Deng Xiaoping returned to politics. A new chapter began.

In 1998, the Shenzhen government provided land in Meilin Huaguo Hill. This was for a new church. The groundbreaking ceremony happened on July 3, 1999. Construction finished in August 2000. The new church opened on December 9, 2001. Local believers donated over ninety percent of the ¥29 million cost.

Consider its size. The church covers 8,265 square meters. It stands 28 meters tall. Shenzhen Christian Church became a landmark.

Today, the church thrives. It holds three Sunday Services. One is at 9:00 am. Another is at 12:00 pm. The last is at 7:30 pm. Weekday meetings occur at 7:30 am. These are from Tuesday to Saturday.

Getting here is easy. Take subway Line 9 to Xiameilin Station. Exit C will lead you to the Xiameilin Market Bus Stop. Transfer to bus No. 374, 201, or 67. Get off at Meilin Second Village Bus Stop. Alternatively, take bus No. 30, 35, 44, 45, 60, 67, 201, 207, 240, 242, 324, or 361 to the same stop.

Shenzhen Christian Church stands as a symbol. It shows salvation and grace. Its majestic lines and crisp design reflect the times.
